In order to accomplish this formidable task, the Department utilizes the services of approximately 2,800 sworn officers and 1,500 support personnel.

To work for the Miami-Dade Police Department you do not have to reside in Miami-Dade County. However, employees who wish to take advantage of the Police Patrol Vehicle Program (PPVP) must live in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County.
County policy provides that employees enrolled in accredited educational institutions may be reimbursed for 50 percent of tuition costs, for approved coursework which will enable them to improve their performance in their current positions and prepare them for increased responsibilities. The Miami-Dade Police Department encourages our employees to take advantage of this upon completing their probation.
